The Food Pantry
The Food Pantry is one part of Food For All Foundation in Kyustendil, Bulgaria that is currently helping families in need during Christmas and Easter. We are currently expanding to be able to help families on a weekly and daily basis. We would also like to support local and regional soup kitchens by helping with their supplies.
Food For All, Bread House, and Cedar Foundation will partner together in Kyustendil to establish a multi-function community center and bakery. The sharing of food and bread and creating a community atmosphere, while giving disadvantage people the opportunity to integrate and participate in society is the main aim of this project.
Bread House will create a working bakery/café, which will be a social enterprise that provides work to the residents of the Cedar foundation, but also other marginalized communities with in Kyustendil, such as Roma employment and integration into society. Beside the bakery, the space will be able to offer other revenue generation possibilities, such as corporate team building, meeting space, cooking classes and hosting bread themed birthday parties etc… The function of the social enterprise aspect of the project is to help keep the community center sustainable, without having to rely too heavily on outside funding.
Within the space, Food for All will have a separate area to house a food pantry to serve the hungry families in Kyustendil. The kitchen area of the bakery will also have facilities to offer prepared food for those in need such as a soup kitchen and the popular youth events in Europe called "Disco Soup" or possibly "Groovy Gyuvetch".
Cedar Foundation is looking to have conference/lecture space with audio visual capacity to hold meetings and host a variety of event to benefit the community, but also rent out to organizations, as another possible revenue stream. This space can also serve as a partial gallery where we line the walls with art work from Cedar residents and local young artists etc…
