news from macedonia
The Lord began to impress in our hearts several years ago about going into FYROM (The Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia) to check out the situation of ministry happenings there. We began going over several times a year to build relationships and see how we might could serve the people there in any way needed.
We ended up supporting a pastor in a large Roma village that is majority Muslim, to begin a work but under severe persecution and even threats to his family, he felt he could not continue. We were discouraged, but continued to look for partnership and leaders that were ready to take on the challenge.
Last year, we began meeting with and getting to know a pastor named Vlaste Petrushevski and his wife, Svetlana. They are more affectionately known and Pastor Lucky and Svetia. He and his assistant pastor with tears in their eyes said, "You do not know how much we have prayed for someone to come help us." We knew it was a connection God had put in motion.
We went with a group from CBC Yorkshire for a week in April encouraging the pastor and building a stronger relationship, then Chance, Lyubcho, Chad and Stanimir all went for a weekend in May for a leadership training event. On that weekend it was decided that Pastor Lucky would be the new director of a new church plant project there, with Pastor Lyubcho and Chance overseeing.
As of last weekend, June 17th, Pastor Lucky has signed a contract to begin receiving a small donation each month to travel and look for potential church plants. We know of 2-3 that will begin in September and he is also in the process of interviewing other leaders.
Please pray for this project:
*for Lucky and his family as they step out in faith in this new position. He has elderly parents in need of care.
*for the new leaders and church plants that are starting this year
*for the funds to support the director and the new churches for this two year commitment. We are stepping out in faith for this project and are praying for partner churches and believers to help make this happen. It's God's work and we trust Him to provide.
