This week we went up into the mountains and went back in time.
Back to the days of living off the land, using an outhouse, cooking over a wood-burning stove, washing dishes at the outdoor tap, lying in the hammock, watching the shepherds, and picking wildflowers. Many discomforts due to the lack of modern amenities, but many pleasures due to the lack of technology and busyness. Hearing stories of family life and traditions and legends of the people from these mountains, severed from even the events going on down in the culture below. Many people had their own set of rules up there. Even the genetics of the people seem to be a bit different than other Bulgarians, with stark blond hair and blue eyes.
This place is a hidden gem that is undisturbed by the rest of the world and not experienced by many.
For more pictures from our visit to Sredorek, you can see them on my blog. http://gallowaysinbulgaria.blogspot.com/
Many thanks to those that love and pray for us. We value your partnership and support. Being on the frontline of ministry requires a definite group of people willing to pray and uplift us, and we know we would/could not be here without you all. You are loved much!
*Catherine and Chance went to the doctor this week and he stated that there are only 3 very small knots and that they are not malignant, there is a version of this that is extremely dangerous, and she does not have the dangerous version. We are praising the Lord for His goodness! He will watch them and if they cause her discomfort or pain, he can remove them in office. She will go back to working on physical therapy at this point to get more strength, flexibility, and mobility in her leg. Thank you for praying with us. Glory to God!
*Pray for Chance and Catherine and their travels in the US. They have traveled to Tampa to visit his parents. Also, Mitch will be traveling alone to Kosovo by bus for the next few days to visit our missionary friends, the Barkhouses. When he gets back he will finish up his residency paperwork and have his official interview with immigration.
*Pray for the projects (agricultural, church plants, and orphanage) beginning here on the ground in Bulgaria.
*Pray for the financial budget to be met. We have received $6,000 since our last report, praise the Lord, but are still $2,000 below budget for the year.
